Origin & Production

The organic Bitter "Seville" Orange trees used to make this oil are grown in the Chalkidiki region of Northern Greece, close to the Vessel certified organic distillery. 

The oil is extracted by steam distillation from leaves and twigs of the orange trees.

Petitgrain oil is one of three essential oils obtained from the bitter orange tree. Petitgrain oil is distilled from young leaves and twigs, another kind of oil is obtained from the peel of the fruit (essence used for aperitifs, liqueurs), and the most prized of them, Neroli, is extracted from the flowers. Unripe bitter oranges are the size of cherries, hence the name "petit grain", meaning "small berries".
