Glycerine is a key ingredient in the Flying Wild range of handmade organic Reflexology Creams. But what is Glycerine, and what does it do?
In the Reflexology Creams Glycerine helps to provide the balanced long lasting slip, control, and grip, that continues even when the cream looks to have been absorbed by the skin. In addition it softens and intensely moisturises the skin, making it easier to work during your treatments, and reducing strain on your precious hands.
What is Glycerine?
Glycerine is one of nature's wonders and is closely linked to life itself, being a key component of all living cells, whether plant or animal. Glycerine is found abundantly in nature in the form of triglycerides, the chemical combinations of glycerine and fatty acids, which are the principal constituents of almost all vegetable and animal fats and oils. In plants triglycerides are produced photosynthetically from water and carbon dioxide, in animals they are assimilated through the consumption of plants.
Benefits of Glycerine
Glycerine’s skin benefits are numerous, but it primarily serves to hydrate the skin and help it hold on to moisture. As one of nature's most powerful humectants, Glycerine helps keep your skin moisturised via drawing water from the environment and delivering it to all layers of your skin, whilst at the same time providing a fantastic protective barrier.
Other benefits also include:
- Helping to shield skin from environmental sources of irritation.
- Working with emollients and oils to make dry skin feel amazingly soft and supple.
- Fortifying and strengthening skin’s precious moisture barrier.
- Enhancing the penetration of other ingredients into skin’s uppermost layers.
- Keeps the skin feeling smooth and comfortable
- non-allergenic, non-toxic, non-irritating
The Certified Organic Glycerine used by Flying Wild is derived from rapeseed organically and sustainably grown in France.
Unfortunately, much of the Glycerine used in big brand non-organic skincare products is made from unsustainable palm oil, the cultivation of which has caused so much destruction of our planet's precious forests.
Thank you for choosing to work with Flying Wild handmade organic products in your treatments.
